Two QR codes, two different jobs

TorqueTrail already had a QR code for your vehicle: scan it and a stranger can tell you your lights are on or that you're blocking them, without ever seeing your phone number. That one lives in the Garage, tied to a specific car.

Link QR is a different thing entirely. It has nothing to do with any vehicle — it's tied to your account, and it points at whatever you want people to find when they scan it: your Instagram, a YouTube channel, a drive you're proud of, or a link you paste in yourself. Put it on a helmet, a jacket, a business card, anywhere a sticker fits.

Keeping the two separate was deliberate. A parking QR needs to stay narrowly about "how do I reach this car's owner." A profile QR needed room to be about you, not your vehicle — so it got its own code, its own settings page, and its own scan experience.

The part that actually matters: reprogramming

Anyone can generate a QR code that links somewhere. The problem with most of them is what happens after you've printed it — change the destination and the sticker you already stuck on your helmet is wrong forever, or you order a new one.

Link QR's code never changes. What it resolves to lives on TorqueTrail's side, and editing your links in Profile settings updates that instantly. Swap out an old Instagram handle, add a new drive, drop a link you don't need anymore — the same physical sticker just starts showing the new set the next time someone scans it.

That also means turning it off isn't destructive. Switch it off and the QR stops resolving; your links stay exactly as you left them, ready the moment you switch it back on.
